Hello! And Welcome
I am passionate about educating the horse. I love to watch them learn. I believe in doing what fits the horse and what makes sense to him. I have no need for surcingles, draw-reins, martingales or other equipment that forces our needs on the horse. I'm interested in building a working relationship through trust and respect based on common sense. I am here to help you and your horse find TRUE UNITY and willing two-way communication. Through the establishment of this communication your horse will become more gentle and supple. Here the horse becomes calm through education and not medication. I work with the horse's mind, body and spirit. This way applies to all disciplines....English or Western.
I'm also doing some life skills teaching, working on leadership and emotional difficulties. I can work with adults and children of all ages. We are located about 30 minutes from Charlottesville and 15 minutes from Culpepr and HITS in the heart of Central Virginia Hunt Country. We have 4 hunt fixtures with riding distance of place. Our nearest map point is Locust Dale, VA. Go to the mercantile page for John's books, halters and flags. We look forward to helping you and your equine friend. If you want to come visit, Please leave your DOGS home. Thank you.
Feel free to contact me for more details.

To he who has never seen the sun,
The moon is a mighty bright light.
Slow down, take your time and you'll have a more harmonious out-come.
Good bye Ray, we'll miss you.

The best horse training magazine. period.
The horse learns from the release, not the application of pressure
Riding comes down to feel, timing and balance. If the human can learn to feel of the horse, it's a start to understanding what's taking place in the horse.

I can't teach you how to feel of the horse, but I can help you to learn.

"Time is a gift. Give it freely to your horse and you'll both be better for it."

We thought we would share with you some pics of Bull Run Hunting through our ranch on Thanksgiving Day. They were really looking fine.
In the horse/human relationship, if we can see the "us" or "we" and not the "I", it allows for more harmony. The Dali Lama spoke of this in His book "How to See YOURSELF as You Really Are"
I have no need to show or compete. Being a perfectionist, I compete with myself everyday to give the horse the best deal possible.
Observe, remember and compare.
I try to make every horse feel like a winner every ride.
